Conservation Commission adds Lot 110-007 to protection
Conservation Commission · Meeting of April 8, 2026
NH NEWPORT — Conservation Commission adds lot to protected district. The Newport Conservation Commission unanimously approved adding town-owned Lot 110-007 to the Conservation District Ordinance, providing zoning-level protection for the previously unprotected land. The vote came after commission member Andrew Boutin learned conservation easements cannot apply to town property.
In related business, the commission unanimously supported Warrant Article 18 for a $5,000 Town Common Capital Reserve Fund and adopted a new commission logo. Commissioners raised concerns that the draft Master Plan from UVLSRPC lacked data from the Natural Resources Inventory and Community Attitude Survey, directing Chairman Lawrence Schissel to communicate their recommendations to the Planning Board.
