Conservation Commission advances strategic plan toward June adoption

NH NEWPORT — Newport Conservation Commission advances June adoption of a strategic planning framework to replace its annual Priority List. Vice Chairman Donald Schagen presented the April 16 draft plan; commissioners must review and propose changes before the tentative June 10 vote. Chairman Lawrence Schissel volunteered to seek Board of Selectmen approval for forest management work at the Pinnacle Overlook, tentatively scheduled for mid-May as part of a student forestry project.
The 2026 Green Up/Clean Up collected 675 bags overall, led by Glenn West's family with 393 bags; blue trash bags will now be available at the Recreation Center for ongoing cleanup.
