Board hears on Meadow Road parking, recommends $15,000 transportation funding

NH NEWPORT — Newport Board of Selectmen holds public hearing on Meadow Road parking expansion, recommends $15,000 for transportation program. The Board unanimously recommended a warrant article to contribute $15,000 to the Sullivan County Transportation Program for federal match requirements operated by Southwestern Community Services. Chairwoman Rachel Dilger and Selectman James Burroughs supported the proposed 0.6-acre Meadow Road acquisition, which would provide 17 to 20 parking spaces at the LaValley Family Community Center, where parking complaints are the town's most frequent public request.
A vote on the property acquisition is scheduled for April 6.
