Board authorizes $55,000 dump truck with state grant backing

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of March 2, 2026

NH NEWPORT — Newport Board of Selectmen authorizes $55,000 dump truck with state grant backing. The board unanimously approved the Public Works vehicle purchase, with 80 percent state funding covering the majority of costs; the vehicle must arrive by year-end to satisfy grant terms. In related business, the board approved an alcohol ordinance waiver for the Chamber of Commerce's June 20 Newport Nano Brewfest and unanimously recognized retiring NCTV Executive Director John Lunn's 33-year tenure with a thank-you letter.

Bruce Hillsmaier takes over as new director. NCTV projects a $10,000-to-$20,000 budget shortfall as cable franchise revenues decline.
